Blowing Bubbles is Not All Bad When Choices are Risky

Number One Bubble Blower
Following are 3 Month, Daily Charts on the SPY, MNX, QQQQ, IWM not necessarily in that order.  The important this is to identify the Current Trend for Swing Trading purposes.  This system has limited application to Day Trading.  The Charts display Price Action, CCI, MACD, Williams %R.  Oval spots designate reversal of direction and establishment of a New Trend.  (This is not a recommendation as to what action to take and is not to be accepted as a proven market management theory - all trades and investments represent significant risk.  This Blog is an ongoing record of my personal observations that I share with friends and associates who are interested.)
All Charts are as of 9.28.10

Determine the Trend is Fundamental

The Trend is Your Friend - Without a Sense of Direction We are Lost!
MNX 3 Month, Daily - CCI Crossovers followed by PPS Long/Short Signals with confirmation by W%R and MACD (highlighted by ovals on chart) help determine the short term trend for Swing Trades (This is of minimal help in Day Trading).

Box to Box Trading Can be Fun! Just Pick the Right Direction.

Who knows what comes out of the Box.

The Market runs from "Box to Box."  Each box is consolidation and will ultimately resolve in a Breakout.

Ya Gotta Stick Your Neck Out Sometime!

Hibernation can only go on so long.  Time for a breather.

TBT - Inverse US Treasury Bills.  Price Action broke resistance and Person Pivots show a move to the upside.  Longer intermediate trend is still bearish.

DX - US Dollar Index - Rally has subsided for the moment.  DX has an inverse relationship with the market.  Dollar Down>Market Up.

SPY 6 Month, Daily - Box breakout to the upside.  Recent pattern of big moves pre-market with chop during market hours.  Spreads might be the answer if direction seems apparent.

Bulls & Bears Go Head to Head!

What's Up!

TBT - US Treasuries - Decline in Treasuries is Bearish for the Market.  Money moves out of equities into safety.

/ES - S&P Futures - Person Pivots suggest a less volatile session tomorrow with a trend to the downside.
Box to Box Trade - Person Pivots point down so the logical conclusion combining this information would point to a lower market.  "When the Obvious is Looking you in the Face, the market is well known to do the opposite.

(Never, ever take anything on this Blog as a recommendation to trade or invest in any issue shown here.)

Box Breakouts for Profit Opportunity!

Boxes are created by Congestion.  Many traders view these times as boring Chop.  They are really Opportunities for Profit Breakouts.

Each Box represents a Battleground between Bull & Bears.  The trick is to catch the breakout.  Lot for Trendline breaks confirmed by MACD crossovers.

Who Falls Down First?

Options Expired - The Party Goes On!  What's Next?

(Click on Chart to Enlarge)
SPY 20 Day, 2 Hour - 8.20.10
The Market has moved in a relatively confined range for several months.  There has been considerable volatility between support and resistance.  You can see the frequent gaps up and down.  During the Consolidation phase (Battleground) seen in the above chart, notice how the MACD drifted lower during this phase.  This was followed by a gap down and market decline.  At this juncture the market could go either way (as always).  The Green Spot in the MACD shows an up trend as opposed to the Consolidation earlier.  Perhaps there is a message here.

Time for the Box to Pop Open!

Boxes Can Hold Surprises!

DX (US Dollar) Value directly related to Market Action on most days.  When the Dollar is Down, the Market is Up, and Vice Versa.
US Treasury Bonds in Decline due to High Demand for Safety.  Bearish for the Market.
SPY 20 Day, Hourly - Sideways Consolidation Begs for a Breakout.  Technicals are more Bearish than Bullish but that is no guarantee.
Box Breakouts are exciting to watch for.  The Trick is to catch the move.
